Supportive Living Solutions (SLS) is looking for service-minded individuals to assist those living with a mental illness or disability on their housing journey.  We are a social services company on a mission to change the quality of life in our community!  We know that affordable housing is an on-going issue in our state. Our clients come to us in various stages in their housing search and process.  We provide this service as a bridge to connect our homeless or at-risk clients with housing resources necessary to get them on the pathway to stability.

In this role, you will work on a team based out of our headquarters in Saint Paul.  You will receive a caseload of clients (caseload size depends on stage of clients) referred to us by case management agencies.  You will meet with your caseload on a regular basis either in their homes, out in the community like a library or coffee shop.  With each client, you will identify the barriers that are perpetuating their cycle of housing instability or homelessness, and create a plan to address those barriers to get them on the path to housing stability.  Some of the barriers you will address may include finances, credit problems, prior criminal history, prior evictions and poor rental history.  Once you create a plan, you will work in close contact with case managers and other agencies to connect your clients with the resources they need to move forward.

To be a successful Housing Advocate, you must have high level organizational skills, problem solving skills and the ability to think critically.  We are looking for someone who is independent and self-motivated, while also collaborative and a team-player.

Specific duties may include:

  • Building rapport with each client and identifying barriers that prevent them from finding their own housing
  • Meet clients regularly in the community to work on housing plan 
  • Assist in procuring necessary funds and resources
  • General client paperwork assistance
  • Assist client in locating legal resources
  • Locate housing that is in the client's location of choice and price range
  • Coordinate tours of housing options and accompany client
  • Work with client to find and apply for housing
  • Help set up the actual moving process, utilities upon moving, and resources for household needs (if client is in this stage)
  • Documentation of client time and case manager communication

  • 40 Hours /Week, Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm


  • $15 - Starting Hourly Rate
    • Benefits include: Health, Dental, PTO, 401K and more (after 90 days of full-time employment)
  • Mileage reimbursement if/when transporting clients


  • Good knowledge of the Twin City Area
  • Strong computer skills
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Some experience with social security and funded services is helpful
  • Caseload management experience is helpful
  • Experience working with vulnerable adults preferred
  • Housing or Human Services experience preferred
  • **Reliable vehicle/valid driver's license and ability to transport clients is required
